As part of Ontario’s new Culture Strategy, the government is committed to improving the conservation of collections from archaeological sites in Ontario so that current and future generations can learn about and understand the past. However, museums often face special challenges regarding these types of collections. This presentation, given by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, will provide museum staff with information about: • Ontario’s new Culture Strategy • legislation in Ontario regarding archaeological collections • government efforts to work with museums to improve the conservation of archaeological collections It will also include a question period and brainstorming session, the results of which will help the government provide museums with better tools to manage these important collections.
